The history and construction of the Diabetic Sensor patches.

That colorful tape you see typically worn by many professional athletes and Olympians is called a Kinesiology tape.

First developed in the 1970s by Japanese chiropractor Kenzo Kase, the Kinesiology tape came to prominence after the 2008 Olympics, and several companies have developed products since. 

The Kinesiology Tape is very different from regular athletic / strapping tape.

It has unique elastic properties and made up of cotton fibers with polymer elastic strands woven throughout, this allows the Kinesiology tape to provide dynamic support. 

Most types of athletic / strapping tape are non-elastic, and are wrapped tightly around an injured joint or muscle to provide rigid support and restrict movement. They can only be worn for short periods of time, after which they must be removed to restore movement and circulation.

Kinesiology tape can be worn during intense exercise, in the shower or even swimming thereby making it perfect for Diabetics, requiring Diabetic Sensor patches.

The Diabetic sensor patch is a heat activate  tape, so when applying the sensor patch, please ensure the skin is clean dry and rub the sensor patch all over once it has been applied to the skin.

Refrain from getting the tape wet for at least an hour after application. The tape should last at least 6-7 days depending on your skin type, when removing the tape lift it above the Glucose Sensor use scissors to carefully cut a line upwards, this will ensure the Glucose Sensorstays in place and you can put on a new sensor patch.

Whilst the makers of RockaDex cannot guarantee that the rock tape will stick to the skin, the majority of people have had success with it.

On the odd occasion it has only lasted a few days before peeling and other times it lasts an entire week.

Fortunately it is very easy to change and will just peel off, leaving your chosen Diabetic Glucose Sensor behind.
